vat it brings to my mind : Summer vacation at Ashok colony: 1. Matches with the next colony guys ( ball match , sign match...etc.,. ). 2. Cricket all the time. ( used to be innings too.) 3. Swimming every day with appa. 4. yeah ! Raghu had that flow in freestyle and he did butterfly too ! 5. i used to grab on to the inflated tube. ( now i swim well too ... 2yrs of swimming at pentafour apartment.) 6. PR.Srinivas the umpire . ( he listened to Raghu.. some understanding there.) 7. Marshal was everyone'e hero then. ( 9 F Balaji used to like him lot)... he is now at the Middle East. 8. I used to like Michael Holding somehow. 9. The score sheets.,. ( the lemonades from amma.) 10.One hot day ...The old man walked in with something totally new to us ..."comics" with polythene sheets covering the comics. ( I think he talked good Engish.) 11. All parents enjoyed the thought as that made all of us stay at home. 12. We used to exchange the comics. ( mostly super heros and stuff like that.) 13. Evenings .. parents used to comedown for their chat ...which usually centered around us the- kids . 14. parents who usually met were Arun's, our parents and kishore- Akila's parents. 15. They always had so much to talk about us. 16. Evenings kishore used to go to violin class with Gurudatt and 6 C Murali ..so he'd leave early. 17. Hey remember kishore's cousin Suresh ? 18. And 9-F Rajesh ( he was my collegue at Pentafour) he is at LA for the past couple of years. 19. Gouthaman and Koushigan? "Anncahi" wonder vat they are doin now! 20. Raghu remember one day Kousigan came home and u asked " yaaru?" reply was : "nanthan" Raghu: " ooru?" .. for that he said " Nagarkovil". "Preu?" ...." kosigan".. and we all had a hearty laugh ! 21.Then one fine day Arun got operated. (boy! it was fun...he was wearing a vasti all the time.) 22.Chinniyan used to be that calm observer ( used to be busy with his tyre). guess he is at Ohio now. 23."Somy, somy unn per yenna?" my buddy used to answer " sowmya dhamodaran". man ! he used to answer that way every time man!. Devanathan M-7-F uncle asked him man. 24. nights we used to play " Allicebyes" "donno vat the heck that meant!" It was fun man .... exchange shirts ..., remember Balji used to stand on top of the volleyball pole so that the catcher woud mistake him to be part of the pole .!!! " can u handle it ! ? ". 25.Then comes the MAy first week (i used to hate that ... scared all the time..) 26.The 1 Re self addressed envelop which we wrote and gave. 27.Man i used to so scared man! 28. Always felt like giving that grinning postman the upper hook and then a straight jab on his face. ( he will wait there for the sweet....he always had more confidence in me.) 29.First the 'Sugan' discount coupen will be there with the result. I always used to fumble with the cover man ! then oo la la ! the word "promoted" used to mean the whole world to me. 30. ..from then on vat ever amma/appa says would'nt fall in my ears grab the bat, grab the rubber ball.. and off to the ground ... Man ! i love Ashok colony man ... no one is around now.. met Arun a couple of times ... at the shed he is always with his wife man ! then last week just had time to say Hi ! to cheechu ( srivaktsan ). these kids now have got all park we dreamt about... ( saw Neerja's daughter with janti there at the park couple of days back.) but the bench that 'sailappan' made for us at the shed cannot be replced ..vat say u? cheers to the gang !
